Movie Review: COP OUT

Cop Out starring Tracy Morgan, oh, and Bruce Willis.

Willis had a very small supporting role in the film even though the case revolved around him. Not much dialogue placed him as straight man for Tracey Morgan, who wasn't funny at all. Morgan's redeeming gig of late has been Scare Tactics on SyFy.

Cop Out was very predictable and tried, in vain, to be a new generation Beverly Hills Cop (with just as old generation actors), even down to the synthesizer track in the action sequences.

Bruce didn't have to be McClane, which he's rumored to be looking into again, but Bruce is known to just have that bad-ass-atude presence. He should have been able to carry the Kevin Smith directed film in humor and action.

With nothing to upend it's debut this weekend, Cop Out won't crack Val Day, Shutter Island and Avatar and should wait for you to rent it.

Movie Reviews This week:

THE BOOK OF ELI (In Theaters Now)

Starring Denzel Washington, the world has been decimated by "The Big Flash) that makes survival the only thing that matters In order to exist, things like water, shoes, and things like moist towelettes are a tradable commodity. Those who survived may not retain the right to be called humanity.

Eli (Denzel Washington) has been compelled for 30 years to cross the wasteland of the country to deliver his sacred package to a final resting place. Eli must protect his valuable parcel with life and limb which is the cost of any who attempt to prey upon him.
Gary Oldman is Carnegie, a "town gentlemen" who has an affinity for books. Once Eli passes through Carnegie's town and it's discovered that Eli may be carrying a powerful book, Carnegie has to have it. Wonderful choreography and some true scenes of wet-work make this action fare not for the squeamish.

The pacing of the film had me worried until Mila Kunis (as Solara) decided that with Eli, there could be a way to freedom. He travels alone but she won't let him. They banter quite well and there are many foreshadowing's in their dialogue.
The price life and beliefs has been purchased many times over in life and blood. Slow at times and predictable in others, BOOK OF ELI is an entertaining film with big names playing unfamiliar characters. All in all, it's a good show and leaves hope with you even in the bleak circumstance.

Just don't touch Eli with that hand again, I promise you, you won't get it back.
