The JONAH HEX FREE SCREENING is Wednesday June 16th, @ 7:30 pm at the Winter Park Regal Cinemas.

FREE SCREENING TICKETS for JONAH HEX will be available on Saturday,JUNE 12th at PLAY n TRADE Lake Mary. There will be tickets and I'm bringing a special prize for everyone who brings in some games for trade in or takes advantage of the great specials on Saturday the 12th.

At the SCREENING on Weds. June 16th, there will be prizes for fans who dress up in a JONAH HEX themed way. Get into it. All prizes, just like seating at the screening, are first come first served.

NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET REVIEW
The latest incarnation of Freddy and Nightmare on Elm Street revisits 1428 Elm Street with Nancy and her friends as they find themselves embroiled in a battle with a dream demon, the icon himself, Freddy Krueger. This Nightmare features Jackie Earle Haley as the man of their dreams who feeds of the belief that the bogeyman is real.

Haley embraces the role with a new realism complete with more cutting turns of phrase and a closer to reality look at a burn victim gone mad.

The hunted cast features Nancy (Rooney Mara) and her tortured friends as they try to puzzle out who is tormenting them in their Nightmares and why they are all sharing in the same night terrors. Other victims in the cast are Thomas Dekker as Jesse and Kellen Lutz as Dean who help Freddy fuel the fire of his hatred toward the children of Elm Street.

Nightmare, directed by Samuel Bayer, takes its own walk down Elm Street while keeping the original in sight. Finely timed scares keep you on the edge of your seat as hints of familiar ground poke-up here and there while introducing creative ways to destroy innocence.

The main diversion from an older age of "slasher" films is the absence of the cautionary tale. Film-goers could expect some sermon about promiscuity being punished by demons. The tales are as old as the tribes, doing bad things to ruin your innocence will bring evil upon you. As cheesy and over the top as the message could have been, it was still in the back of everyone's mind - Never have sex when your parents are out of town, the bogeyman will get you. Even a claw endowed maniac like Freddy should have a message for children (o:

ORTIZ ARRESTED AGAIN FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE BATTERY

TITO ORTIZ was arrested Monday (April 26, 2010) on Domestic Violence charges for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Jenna JAMESON (one of my all time favs!). ORTIZ was arrested and sentenced to jail back in 1998 when he pled guilty to battery charges. JAMESON may not be the perfect woman but, on paper, the fault lines are hard to see. She's extremely wealthy by her own means, she's exotically beautiful, sounds intelligent, I doubt she has any troubles with the physical aspects of a relationship and she appears to be a decent mother. Whether you love or hate Jameson's line of work is neither here nor there, she's a woman and a mother; someone's daughter and best friend.
There is a possibility that his professional fighter (MMA) status may come into consideration when the complaint is heard in court. Should that be a factor? Does it make his crime more severe since he has experience in hurting people? Your opinions are encouraged.

A HAPPILY MARRIED DYNAMIC DUO

RYAN REYNOLDS and SCARLETT JOHANSSON are apparently the marriage made in comics. REYNOLDS has already appeared in other fantasy genre works - BLADE: TRINITY, The X-FILES, X-MEN: ORIGINS - WOLVERINE, "as the Merc with the Mouth" Deadpool, which he will reprise in 2011 in a solo feature, and is currently going au-naturale filming GREEN LANTERN. Ladies don't get yourselves in a tizzy, Green Lantern's costume is reportedly going to be added with CGI in post production.
The lovely SCARLETT JOHANSSON is currently the poster girl BLACK WIDOW for IRON MAN 2. Her character is already being talked about for a feature film of her own. Her comic resume' is no less impressive with her work in THE SPIRIT as SILKEN FLOSS and as REBECCA in GHOST WORLD.
The REYNOLDS/JOHANNSON's have even had hilarious skits featuring one another on Saturday Night Live. Recent reports have touted them to be a fun-loving couple happy in work and marriage.
With MARVEL COMICS taking such a huge gamble in the AVENGERS franchise in film after film of the same mythology type, REYNOLDS taking the reins as GREEN LANTERN and DEADPOOL, will this couple be the first power couple of an adventure age? Or will they become the poster children for overkill?

IN CLOSING
Celebrities are strewn all over the media with tales of infidelity and violence, real and drummed up, to sell papers and advertising. Fame, nor privacy, prevents horrible things from happening to wonderful people. The sad fact is that we are all instantly appalled when someone of note gets arrested for abuse, being unfaithful to spouse and family or acting a fool in public. Unfortunately, there's no one to see, help or even yell out on a victim's behalf when it happens behind the closed doors of the anonymous.

So many things have caught my attention lately that I find myself wondering how much technology we can stand and how much "reality" is good for us.

I was reading an article about 3D the other day, seems like 3D is "the way of the future". How soon will it be before we are tired of paying the extra cash for the IMAX/3D/Real D/HD versions of something? Eventually they will become the standard way of things. Televisions are already on the market to watch 3D shows at home, but is there really programming for it yet? I'm sure AVATAR looks fantastic on the Blu-Ray, Large screen, special glasses (yes, you still have to get them at an average of $50 a pair), surround sound format. Do you know if you have motion sickness problems? Samsung, who manufactures 3D T.V.s and Blu-ray players, released health and safety information about 3D for its Australian buyers. Video games do that as well and I'm sure everyone wants to cover their asses. It's a risk. Be warned.

Newer films like Clash of the Titans and Harry Potter are being released in 3D even though they weren't filmed in that format. It's an added technology.In the coming seasons, HD channels supporting 3D will be hitting the cable companies. Hopefully they won't be a NEWER version of the DVR since you already have to rent a different version if you want HD channels.

The initial buzz if the 3D format will enhance some movie-going experiences. Do you think it will become the norm or become a fad like in the hayday of the killer insects from outer space?
