Upcoming RavenLoches Stuff!!
Tuesday, July 24, 2007, 10:34 AM
Thank you all for the las minute dash to Sunshine last night. It was a decent movie. One of those that you'll love or hate. Some say it was too cerebral others say they didn't understand it, doesn't that actually mean the same thing??

Still coming up is No Reservations tonight at Regal WP, Hot Rod on Thursday, The Simpsons on Thursday (decisions, decisions) and then Stardust starring Robert DeNiro, the eternally hot Michelle Pfeiffer and Claire Danes based on a Neil Gaiman story.

Also on the horizon is The Bourne Ultimatum and then we have a surprise for you.

Make sure you keep an eye here for the location of a grand re-opening party. I cannot disclose everything yet but the first clue is that it will be on August 1st, so reserve some tmie there. Oh, second clue, it involves RavenLoches so you know it will be a party with prizes and fun.

No mre tesing for now. I'm getting too hot under the collar. ^v^J^v^

Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix
Friday, July 6, 2007, 04:00 PM
Dan here again:
Our secret reviewer and I attended a press screening this morning and here's that take on the movie.

Secret Reviewer:
As one of the most obsessed HP fans out there, I was dreading yet highly anticipating OotP and was not entirely let down either way bythe movie.

Visually, it was awesome, bringing to life some of the scarier moments in young Harry's life and it was wonderful to hear some of my favorite dialoge from the book repeated verbatim. But try condensing any 900 page book into a two hour movie and you're going to be left with flat characters and too much plot happening into too short of time. You lose the little clever moments and nuances that MAKE the story.

The one thing that was absolutely PERFECT in the film was Dolores Jane Umbridge, who is going down as one of the best villains ever written.

The movie on the whole was pretty decent, formulaic, crescendoing and exploding with a big bang so I'm sure people who haven't read the books will at least get the gist and most of the major plot points but only real HP fans will truly appreciate what was left out, all the little details that couldn't be mentioned (like what is really behind the curtain at 12 Grimmauld Place?) and the true meaning of Voldemort's return.

There you have it...It is a go see it if you are a fan of the series and worth the price even if you're not!
