Damn! It's Been a Long Time!!
Friday, November 17, 2006, 08:21 PM
We'll, since it's been a while, I'll make a quick apology and move along. Whew, that being done, what'cha been up to? We've been getting out as much as we can to the movies and other social events. Dan went to Vegas for SEMA wjicj means that he met tons of great and important folks while viewing the hot bods and rods.

Next year I'm goin' Dammit!

Holy Bat****! Has it really been that long since I've said hi? Marie Antoionette is still the suck but I have found a few close runners lately -

BABEL - typical Brad Pitt flexing his emotional muscles He did well as did Cate Blanchette as the victim of a stray series of events. That was the only part of the film that was worth watching. If they'd kept to that plotline, it would have been a 20 minute movie, but a solid 20 minutes. The nympho Japanese chick was cute but pointless and part of the lessons being learned from the film is, never allow someone to watch your kids overnight. Unless, they're related to youand positive that they have a way to get back into the country.

BABEL - SIGH

HAPPY FEET - GREAT! and then some!
Terriffic music, voices, animation, you can't really ask for much more. It's the old Disney musical animations but upgraded to a mass appeal. I was afraid that there would be a ton of cheesy Elton or Michael songs created just for the movie. Nope, the creators went deep into the licensing pockets for toe tappin tunes and they really had the crowd moving in their seats all night. Two more things to consider. The first thing I mentioned about this film was NOT the animation. Don't get me wrong, it is more than first rate BUT, the story, characters and setting were powerful, in and of themselves, to warrant sigher attention,

Again - HAPPY FEET - More than GREAT!!

3rd film of the ratings week was The Fountain -
Another film that took forever to make (6 years), wasted a ton of money ($18 million was literally wasted as it walked out the door with Cate Blanchette on a play or no play buy-out when the film was first scrubbed), Brad Pitt on board for the long haul until it got too long and his career was idling on The Fountain and Darren Aronofsky (director) was left barely drinking from The Fountain that no one wanted to play with.
Where is all this going? AB-so-lutely nowhere! Oh yeah, the film got made and opens soon but why? It's rare that two films make me want my free money back but this year is a two-fer so far! I've already beaten Antoionette about the head and shoulders (too bad I couldn't hang her too) but The Fountain made me wish I was at the dentist.

Hugh Jackman didn't inspire me to join him in his quest for finding the solution for his eternal love, he kinda made me feel bad that he was in it. He seemed to wander aimlessly throughout the film broken up by his stops to be with the gorgeous Rachael Weisz. An admirable goal for sure, but my only memories of Jackman are very sad faces popping up on the screen and he's off again.

The Fountain - WHY?

It may seem vague in the way I review things but more often than not, we see films before they are released to the general public so not only would I catch a ton of crap from the folks who don't agree with my reviews (Marie Antoionette, still makes me laugh) but then I would have the spoiler police would be hobblin through.

I'm off for a wkk but there will be films and fun a plenty when I return.

In the meantime, The Revolutionary and I are scheming in a big way, so be careful - hee hee.

Joey Cruz original artwork is being finalized and will be ready for sale before the XMas Holidays. Keep checkin here and at RavenLoches.Com.

Back to the airwaves and more very, very soon!

To amuse yourself while I'm off, be sure to check out The One Man Revolution's show and his incredible coverage of the SEMA Show in VEGAS. Bad Ass Rides!

Play nice, share the crayons!

Later!

Tickets Today - Weds. Oct. 18th from 4 to 6 pm - Borders Altamonte
Wednesday, October 18, 2006, 12:28 PM
OK, let’s try this again since the online gods hate me. I had a fun and quirky post up here for you all and now the magic is gone, sigh. You’ll have to settle for this one instead.

Today, Wednesday, October 18th is Ticket Day. Joey Cruz will be at the Borders at the corner of 436 and 434 from 4 to 6 pm. On hand will be a limited amount of tickets for Marie Antoinette starring Kirsten Dunst and tickets for Running with Scissors, featuring a slew of great actors.

Marie Antoinette will be for Thursday, October 19th at 7:30 pm at the Fashion Square 18.

Running with Scissors will be showing on Tuesday, October 24th at 7:30 pm at the Regal Winter Park Cinemas. Both tickets are in extremely limited demand, so as always; First Come, First Served.

Don’t despair. Joey will spend his down time at Borders working on his artwork for conventions and future online shopping opportunities. Everything is for sale and Joey is cheap! Well, the artwork for sale is inexpensive, Joey isn’t cheap. I guess it depends on what you offer him . . .

Movie, Music and other Reviews are on the way as well as a wrap-up of ScreamFest ’06.

Congratulations to ScreamFest ’06 Costume Contest Winners, you all did a rockin’ job.

In the Kids Category, Danielle Burnett won First Place!

The Scariest Costume went to Richard Grgloe!

The Family of Horror (Will, Shea and Jakob Sanders) took home the Group Award!

And the Overall Best of Show went to John Peter Trask for his original Ashe!

Thank you to our judges Susan, Jodi of the Wolf Brothers Make-up, Dan and Josh. The costume contests’ Producer, Kit, did a bangin job of putting together a great show. And to J.C. Halliwell – Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, the hostess with the mostess.

Clear the calendar for the RavenLoches Entertainment’s next cast on Thursday, October 19th. We’re working on live calls, moving pictures and all that jazz. Other than radio face, we think you’ll enjoy the upcoming adventures of RavenLoches Entertainment.

See you all this afternoon and tomorrow night. Later.

Well, here are the links to the best events in October.

www.nightsofterror.com

www.spookyempire.com (ScreamFest '06)

I love Halloween!

Now, Movie Reviews.

First comes The Departed, you can find the link right over there ----->

GREAT! Not much more to say about it than that. It was up there with Goodfellas so you know it's tight. Jack Nicholson is the greatest and I was surprised with Leonardo (not Donatello). He played the confused cop very well. I wasn't surprised with Mark Wahlberg or Matt Damon, they're always good. I highly recommend this film to anyone who loved a great smashball movie.

Employee of the Month - Date Movie.
It tried to be cutesy and you could call it 40 Year Old Virgin light. It has some funny jokes that you can't tell in mixed company, decent physical comedy and Jessica Simpson didn't have to talk too much. She played the Barbie girl. No emotion, looks great, and didn't have to stretch anything too far except her shirt. All in all, it was a good movie to see with some friends or something you don't have to shy away from when it comes on cable.

Open Season - GREAT!
Funniest movie, not just animated film, but movie I've seen in a long time. I found myself laughing about some of the gags for a couple of days. Great for kids and adults, plenty of sight gags for everyone and Ashton Kutcher does a fantastic job of playing the challeneged deer. Take everyone to see this one!

Soooo. The horror gods have not smiled upon us and didn't send the Texas Chainsaw tickets )o: Sorry.

The great news is that I may have discovered a NEW venue to do horrored Halloween nights. www.nightsofterror.com. It will rock and it's something tingly to do right after the Screamfest con each night.

Friday the 13th is a superb opening night. First, ScreamFest ' 06 will open on the 13th day and go til early evening, THEN, mosey down to the Mercado, not far at all from the Screamfest halls, and get the snot scared out of you with TWO PG-13 houses of terror, ONE RATED R, that's right Rated R Haunted House, and if you have kiddies that want to soil themselves (you are responsible for changing them) there is a kids house that will have them crawling in your bed for a few night but not get therapy bills too high.

If possible, I will have some FREE tickets to Nights of Terror AND Screamfest in the very near future. This is going to be a rockin' Halloween.

Keep up kids, next week is The Grudge 2, as soon as I have tickets for that, so will you, then, on the 24th, Running with Scissors will be the next freebie, and they'll just keep coming.
So, NOW you'll believe us when we say check with RavenLoches Entertainment for the latest information on where to get free tickets for the best events in Central Florida!

Make sure you catch our podcasts, almost every week at www.ravenloches.com.
See Ya!
